The Original
Out of the box composer tools created for film scoring — a collection of orchestral ensembles featuring strings, brass, woodwind and percussion as well as loops, synths and atmospheres, all captured at AIR Studios, Lyndhurst Hall. This classic Spitfire library is full of character, providing users a cinematic orchestral palette for composers to sketch large, epic‑sounding, Hollywood‑style film scores.
Captured in 2011, this sample library was Spitfire’s maiden Albion product, which kick started the whole range of Albions, a selection of all-in-one products of cinematic inspiration. More from the Albions range.

…if you need a palette of powerful orchestral ensembles which will inspire your writing, galvanise your scores and generally add class, sheen, size, power and depth to your orchestral armoury, the library delivers in spades.
The ‘cinematic’ sound of big, booming drums and scary, low-pitched rumbles and crashes, preferably recorded in a highly reverberant hall acoustic… this type of explosive, earth-shaking racket is amply covered in Albion.
The overview panel
This is the main interface for melodic instruments. Its default view displays all available playing techniques, has a simple microphone mixer and includes the main feature controllers.
General controls panel
This view allows further in-depth control of the instrument, showing all available signals and feature controllers, as well as the ability to purge techniques from memory to reduce system usage.
The Ostinatum
In this view you can add notes to a pattern sequencer, select which key it triggers on and then play for instant Ostinato creation. It’s like an arpeggiator on a synthesiser.

Computer Music
Having spent three years creating a bespoke private orchestra sample library shared by a handful of A list film composers, the original Albion was designed to allow composers to realise the orchestral sound of huge blockbuster movies in their compositions - but quickly and easily. We made a few innovations including recording to tape - and used a huge collection of outboard gear to warp the sound of the orchestra into the “Stephenson’s Steam Band” - and then along with the huge sounding percussion section and versatile small rhythmic loops, we thought this had ‘everything you need to create an epic blockbuster score in one package!
