Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios, London. In the origin story of Spitfire Audio, this is where it all began. We return to complete what is the beating heart of our symphonic range—Spitfire Symphonic Strings Professional. Performed by London’s first-call string players, captured in a room unlike any other, the sound is equally majestic and inspiring, warmly embracing the instruments in The Hall’s lush reverberation.
The Professional edition brings a new level of customisation with a total of 11 signals, featuring 8 mic positions and 3 expertly engineered mixes by Jake Jackson (WandaVision, Emma, David Copperfield, It: Chapter 2). Recorded to tape using AIR’s unparalleled signal path and microphone selection, this library is bursting with an encyclopedic offering of techniques—the most of any Spitfire Audio library. Used by top names in film and TV music, this is an absolute workhorse that offers the ultimate level of choice and control.

Spitfire Symphonic Strings Professional has been created with 60 of the world's finest strings players — 16 1st Violins, 14 2nd Violins, 12 Violas, 10 Cellos & 8 Basses — performing over 175 articulations including 59 shorts, 94 longs, and 5 legato patches programmed by Andrew Blaney and presented with essential and versatile microphone positions. In addition to each individual section, Spitfire Audio also offers a comprehensive selection of articulations and techniques presented in the specially curated Ensemble tool, offering instant playability and designed for quick writing. This definitive compendium contains everything from classic and elegant vibrato and expression controlled dolce samples, to the cutting-edge techniques designed by Spitfire Audio’s award-winning team of composers and producers, including the hugely popular flautando and super sul tasto articulations.
The Crown, Wonder Woman 1984, The Trial of The Chicago 7, James Bond, Interstellar, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Gladiator—all were recorded in Lyndhurst Hall at London’s AIR Studios, Spitfire Audio’s spiritual home and a room where blockbuster scores are born. Architecturally unique, the acoustic properties of the interior of Lyndhurst Hall are renowned globally, loved by composers and musicians alike. There is a gentle reverberation in the room that adds beauty to anything played there. The sound produced by a soloist, chamber ensemble or indeed a full symphonic orchestra expands and blooms inside the space, a truly versatile palette giving access to a range of textures from delicate and intimate to thunderous and epic.
Building on the core Spitfire Symphonic Strings, this new Professional library is packed with 152GB of extra content and features three curated mixes–Fine, Medium, and Broad—by the award-winning engineer, Jake Jackson, offering you an immediate and recognisable blockbuster sound. These mix perspectives, crafted using single voices per note for low CPU/RAM usage, prove to be indispensable for creating ready-made mixes that work across the entire orchestra.
Need more control to bring your score to life? Look no further than the 11 signals featuring 8 classic microphone positions to create your own custom mixes, giving you a diverse range of palettes from a single room. Included are 4 alternative (ALT) microphones: a microphone placed close to the leader of each section (L), warm Close Ribbon (Cr), close Stereo Pair (St) and spacious Gallery (G) signals, as well as the addition of Outrigger signals to the common Close Tree Ambient (known as CTA), creating CTAO for the classic Spitfire Audio setup.
