Spitfire’s first dry scoring stage ensemble library, inspired by the electric genius of Bernard Herrmann. Renowned for his groundbreaking scores including Citizen Kane, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Psycho, Vertigo and Taxi Driver, his legacy continues to inspire the work of composers today. We’ve worked exclusively with Bernard Herrmann’s estate to curate and assemble a unique set of studio orchestra ensembles, informed directly by the composer’s legendary orchestration aesthetic. Recorded at Studio 1 Air Lyndhurst by Simon Rhodes (Avatar, Grand Budapest Hotel, Spectre, Harry Potter, There Will Be Blood), we’ve captured players performing as Herrmann would have had them – boisterous, lively and upfront, with patches featuring selected groups, unusual instrumental combis, chords, effects and much more. Fire-up this versatile Toolkit for lively and distinctive scoring.

Hard-wired to humanity, nothing gets to the heart of music like the human voice – and Spitfire’s most anticipated release to date is a choir that captures the breathtaking range of our most personal musical instrument. Crafted and conducted by Grammy winner Eric Whitacre and showcasing his elite family of singers, this encyclopaedia of the voice will enrich your composition. It will also blow away any dusty perception of the choir as a niche, occasional ingredient, reserved for angels and demons. With these sounds at your fingertips, you will start to think differently about the human voice. For this library, we returned to the luxury of Lyndhurst Hall at Air Studios, which means Eric Whitacre Choir shares the acoustic DNA of Spitfire’s orchestral catalogue, and will work hand in hand with those libraries.

No self-respecting cinematic samples library would be complete without this idiosyncratic Eastern European instrument. The large hammered Grand Cimbalom played by Greg Knowles.
Spitfire Audio joins forces with the biggest name in film scoring to produce the ultimate drum sample library for cinematic percussion. Featuring the ensembles and solo instruments used by Hans Zimmer in his blockbuster scores, we’ve drawn upon his years of creativity and studio experimentation to compile all you’ll need to get started in epic drum composition. From tombeks to taikos, playing from whisper quiet to thunderously loud, we’ve worked alongside his GRAMMY Award-winning team (including engineer Geoff Foster) to capture the highest quality recordings in the same studio with the same players, all mixed and produced by the man himself. Everything you need to make cutting-edge strings music. There is a shift in string writing that is becoming a global movement - based on innovative techniques and performance styles, it’s notoriously impossible to program with the tools currently available. We’ve partnered with the London Contemporary Orchestra, whose work with the likes of Radiohead and Jed Kurzel (Alien: Covenant) has contributed significantly to this shift, to create a string library that gives you access to this unique, experimental palette. This library contains multi-sampled violin, viola, cello and bass sections, and has been recorded at our dry stage in London. With a host of dynamically controllable, never-before-sampled articulations, this rich set of diverse recordings are both playable and musical, and will transform your work.
Our second collaborative venture with the internationally-acclaimed London Contemporary Orchestra took us to an awe-inspiring aircraft hangar for a recording process like no other. Together we have created a completely unique, never-before-sampled sound palette — a sophisticated collection of constantly evolving organic textures, formed by layering unexpected combinations of instruments. In applying the signature workshopping, performance styles and innovative techniques that have made the LCO so sought after, we have produced textures made up of indefinable, fascinating sounds. Our need for unparalleled acoustics led us to the most unconventional recording space in Spitfire’s eleven year sampling history — a cavernous hangar with a remarkably long reverb tail — adding incredible resonance to each note. Enhanced with our unique Evo Grid, we give you access to a cutting edge, inspiring collection of instantly playable, spellbinding textures which will add incredible depth and colour to your composition.
9 Marimbas placed all over the hall at Air Studios to create what can only be described as a tuned percussion 'choir'. An infectious selection of single hits, through to transfixing choral tremolando patches.

We’re proud to present a set of super-exclusive ready-built orchestral patches for composers working at the frontline, needing to hit that deadline. Designed by composers for composers, and featuring all three sections of our symphonic orchestral range — Brass, Woodwinds and Strings — these patches have been carefully re-orchestrated, re-mixed and re-baked into a series of awe-inspiring, straight-out-of-the-box tools, only available as part of the Spitfire Symphony Orchestra Collection. Some of the ensembles within contain forces of over 300 players, designed for no-nonsense composers looking to get the job done.

We join forces with BAFTA-winning composer Ólafur Arnalds (Broadchurch, Kiasmos, Erased Tapes) to record an all-star ensemble performing his latest set of awe-inspiring evolutions. Based in Reykjavík, Iceland, Ólafur’s approach to sound and composition has inspired a new generation to enjoy and create orchestral music, and following the success of his own Spitfire libraries and our Symphonic Strings Evolutions, he became the obvious choice to create Chamber Evolutions. Here, the 4,3,3,3,3 ensemble of British players (Violin I + II, Viola, Cello, Double Bass) led by long-term collaborator Viktor Orri Árnason perform a range of fragile yet warm beautifully evolving phrases, recorded at the world-famous Hall in Air Studios (London).
With our Evo Grid technology, this library makes it easy to create sophisticated chamber strings music from the most simplistic of arrangements - just a few sustained notes is all you need to write inspiring dynamic textures.
We also introduce here Waves: a brand new innovation featuring notes that move along a wave-like dynamic arc, appearing from nothing, swelling, and then dying away again to nothing. These are accessible via our classic interface, in various styles and lengths.
For composers, for songwriters, for producers. An intimate and deeply personal set of tools curated by BAFTA winning composer Ólafur Arnalds, with the writer in mind. Centred around a hugely characterful 'felted' grand piano and a comprehensive set of extraordinary and inspiring sounds, all recorded in Iceland.

At last a contextual piano that actually sounds like it's in the same room as your orchestra. Recorded in the Hall at Air Studios, this piano is designed to sit in with our entire orchestral range.
A new standard in orchestral sample library innovation, this will significantly expand your existing orchestral palette to include a huge variety of totally unique textures. As an alternative to using only straightforward long notes, this library draws upon the pointillistic effect of having multiple players perform short notes at random intervals to create an undulating swell of sound performed in real time, for inspiring results. Taking our Swarm approach, but adapted for the orchestra, it gives access to even greater detail by utilising the huge variety of articulations and playing styles of orchestral instruments and will give your compositions a liquid dynamic that dances alongside the picture.
This library has been created exclusively in collaboration with Bleeding Fingers, and is featured in Blue Planet ii and Hans Zimmer/Radiohead’s collaboration “(ocean) bloom”.

Spitfire Studio Brass is the second release in our vital all-new Spitfire Studio Orchestra range. Two years in the making, our ambition was to create an incredibly versatile pro-end, dry-stage sample library. This is a full gathering of the brass family, including less frequently heard relatives such as bass trumpet, contrabass tuba and cimbasso. Epic power is on tap, but it comes with the grace and pinpoint detail of the dry stage.
Spitfire Studio Brass Professional captures the widest emotional range of performance, with abundant articulations. Choose solo, duet or section performances; realise the detail of your music with swells, flutter tongues and staccatissimo stabs as well as traditional articulations; choose from microphones placed super-close to the player, through to outriggers and ambients at the edges of Air Studio One – or mix and match for absolute tonal control.
