How it Works

Do You Really Need This?

Symphonic strings in motion
Spitfire Symphonic Motions makes it easy to create sophisticated sounding kinetic passages, combinations of rhythms and playing techniques to elevate your scores, as well as solving a common problem with virtual string instruments — achieving realistic rebowing. Recorded in the same space, with the same world-class players and attention to detail, this inspiring tool perfectly complementsSpitfire Symphony Orchestra, but is also inspiring when used on its own, adding texture, momentum and depth to your cinematic compositions.

The Motions Grid
Available in our award-winning, easy-to-use plug-in and NKS ready, the sophisticated, intuitive grid layout allows you to easily and quickly create intricate, realistic and expressive rhythmic strings. Much like our Spitfire Evo libraries creating realistic long notes, Spitfire Symphonic Motions offers the same for short and rhythms. Choose from an essential selection of playing techniques, and combine these with short ‘Overlay’ techniques for accents and blending to create a more nuanced, dynamic sound. You also have up to four different rhythms to choose from (6ths, 8ths, 12ths, 16ths) with two phrasing options (discrete/staccato and smooth/legato), locked to the host tempo in your DAW.

Our bespoke grid interface, inspired by the EMS VCS3 synth, positions ‘pegs’ via an onscreen 12 x 40 grid arrangement, giving you access to recordings across 12 intervals, organised in a grid with a wide range of possible configurations. Instantly select which technique sits on each of those 12 key ranges, toggle your pegs, or hit "Randomise" to generate randomised combinations for instant inspiration.
