Addi 800 is one of Iceland’s most sought after and experienced recording and mixing engineers. He has had a final hand in an amazing amount of significant Icelandic music projects, including film scores and albums with Bjork, Sigur Ros and Ólafur Arnalds.
On our trip to Iceland it was a real pleasure to meet Addi 800 and to be shown round his beautiful studio, Room 313. It’s located in the old fish-packing district in central Reykjavík, which has now become a veritable creative arts district. It’s loaded with state-of-the art equipment for almost any kind of pro audio venture. Barefoot monitoring, a beautiful mic locker filled with goodies and lots of great outboard. And then of course, Addi’s ears, which spend a lot of time there.
