If there was a single product that could sum up the foundation of Spitfire's approach to sampling, it would be this. Recorded in London at a studio that has played host to scores from the highest grossing blockbusters — Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios — we've used the same first-call session players playing the same instruments, sampled with our usual more is more approach.

If you want that blockbuster sound, you have to go bold. If you want cinematic, you have to go big. Featuring 60 players performing 175 articulations, including legatos, this is the ultimate encyclopaedic collection of symphonic strings sampling.

The overview panel

This is the main interface for melodic instruments. Its default view displays all available playing techniques, has a simple microphone mixer and includes the main feature controllers.

General controls panel

This view allows further in-depth control of the instrument, showing all available signals and feature controllers, as well as the ability to purge techniques from memory to reduce system usage.

The Ostinatum

In this view you can add notes to a pattern sequencer, select which key it triggers on and then play for instant ostinato creation. It’s like an arpeggiator on a synthesiser.

60 Star Players, 16 1st Violins, 14 2nd Violins, 12 Violas, 10 Cellos & 8 Basses super deep sampled with over 175 articulations, including 59 shorts, 94 longs, and 5 extraordinary performance legato patches programmed by Andrew Blaney. Recorded with multiple round robins, dynamic layers and presented with 3 essential and versatile microphone positions. In addition to each individual section we also have a comprehensive selection of articulations and techniques presented in an ‘ensemble’ format designed for sketching and composing with ‘out of the box’ satisfaction.

We have taken Mural 1, 2, 3, Ensembles & Evolutions off our shelves. We have released Spitfire Symphonic Strings with everyone’s favourite and most diverse microphone positions C(lose), T(ree), A(mbient).

What’s in Spitfire Symphonic Strings Professional?

Spitfire Symphonic Strings Pro builds on the core Spitfire Symphonic Strings library, with 152.61GB of extra content. Included inside the expansion pack are 4 alternative (ALT) microphones: a microphone placed close to the leader of each section (L), warm Close Ribbon (Cr), close Stereo Pair (St) and spacious Gallery (G) signals, as well as the addition of Outrigger signals to the common Close Tree Ambient (known as CTA), creating CTAO for the ‘classic Spitfire’ setup. On top of this we offer the Fine (F), Medium (M) and Broad (B) stereo mixes mixed by Jake Jackson for instant great sounding mixes, with low CPU/RAM usage.
