This month we've dedicated our Journal to the work of Mr Bernard Herrmann, best known for his iconic collaborations with director Alfred Hitchcock including Psycho, North by Northwest and Vertigo, plus his compositions for critically acclaimed films Taxi Driver and Citizen Kane.

During the creation of the Bernard Herrmann Composer Toolkit we were privileged enough to sit down with Mrs Norma Herrmann, Bernard's wife, and composer Howard Blake OBE, a good friend and colleague. From the two of them we learnt more about what 'The Master Of Suspense' was like as a musical innovator and as a person away from the music. Paul, Christian and some of the team pick their favourite Herrmann moments in film, and Pascal delves into the 'lush discomfort' of Bernard Herrmann's writing. We also have another brilliant quick tip from Christian & Jake who look at how you can mix two recordings or sample libraries with differing ambiences.
